Sigma Xi Chapter Annual Report
Welcome to the Chapter Annual Report form. In addition to a simplified procedure for reporting your activities, you will find a wealth of information about your chapter that will help with planning for the coming year. Print files of closed annual reports for the current cycle being submitted are available via online request. Log in then provide the e-mail address where you want the report sent. An e-mail will be sent from chapters@sigmaxi.org with the annual report attached as a Word document. Please allow up to 10 minutes for the report to be delivered.
Before You Begin
There are a few things to note about this report:
- You will be required to enter your Member ID# and last name as well as your chapter password to start your Chapter Annual Report. Once your password is entered and verified, your Chapter Annual Report is started and will be "locked" to your last name and ID number. You will be the only person who can login again to make changes or additions to this report.
- The report is separated into several sections. Each section can be accessed through the Annual Report Sections page which is displayed once your login has been authenticated.
- This form can be completed in a number of sessions. Do not close the annual report until each section has been completed. You can return to edit or add more information to the form by using the login screen.
- Before beginning the report, we recommend that you gather information about your chapter's activities over the past year so you can fill out the form in less time. A PDF is available to preview the annual report sections.
- The Member ID#s for the incoming officers and the delegate to the Annual Meeting will be required by the form. Gathering that information in advance can save time in filling out the form.
- Chapter officers must be active, dues-paid members for the year they are serving. To check a membership expiration date, please click here.
Why Do Chapters Have to Submit a Report?
Good Standing
Submitting an annual report is one vital step for your chapter to maintain good standing. Why is this so important? Because only chapters in good standing receive local support payments from Sigma Xi's central administration, as well as travel support for chapter delegates to the Annual Meeting. To achieve good standing each chapter must do all of the following:
- submit an annual report;
- submit a list of officers for the coming year;
- initiate at least one new member over a period of two years; and
- send a delegate to at least one annual meeting over a period of three years.
Through this annual report form, your chapter will be able to input its list of new officers. So submitting the form will accomplish the first two requirements for good standing - and will also qualify your chapter for a subsidy to accomplish requirement (4).
Annual Meeting: The individual you identify in the section "Designate a Delegate" will receive information about Annual Meeting registration and travel support in August. Since travel support is only available to individuals whose chapters are in good standing, please complete this form as soon as possible. Sigma Xi limits travel funding to the lowest possible fare, so chapters are encouraged to make plans early.
Chapter Awards
This annual report form will also be used as the basis for selecting Chapters of Excellence, Chapter Program Awards and Diversity Program Awards. For details on this process, click here.
Awards will be presented at the Annual Meeting of the Society. Each winning chapter will be featured on the Sigma Xi Web Site, and members will be notified of their chapter's award.
DEADLINE: You must complete this online form by JULY 1, 2011 - to achieve good standing in time for the first local support payment in late September, and to qualify for chapter awards.
